OWENS, RICHARD GARY, May 5, 1931 – April 4, 2004

OGDEN – Richard Gary Owens, 72, died April 4, 2004 quietly in his home with his family. Gary was born in Malad, Idaho on May 5, 1931 to Richard T. and Mildred Hall Owens. Gary graduated from Davis High School and married Mariann Galbraith on April 30, 1954. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Gary was an executive for Standard Oil for several years prior to returning to Utah in 1975. Gary fulfilled many church callings including Bishopric, Seminary Teacher, Stake Mission President, etc.

He is survived by his loving and caring wife of 50 years, Mariann, and their children; Kellie (Greg) Jarvies, Albuquerque, NM; Scott (Lisa) Owens, Roseville, CA; and Krissy (Paul) Duke, Ogden, UT; 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother Bob.

Gary served in the Marine Corps. Gary worked hard at all he did and always loved his family. He was a very happy and optimistic man who could always make the best of things. Gary served his family and the church throughout his life and has left a legacy of positive memories for his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held April 8 at the Uintah Stake Center, Ogden, UT. Interment, Washington Heights Memorial Park.
