SERVICES THURSDAY FOR DICK THOMSON

Funeral services are being held today for Richard E. (Dick) Thomson, 42, who died at Boise January 10, 1960 following a long illness. Mr. Thomson was a former Malad resident.

Bishop Colen H. Sweeten, Jr. officiated at the services in the Malad LDS Stake building. Prayer at the home was offered by Loren L. Peck, Jr. Speakers were Jonah M. Evans, who read the obituary and J.D. “Cy” Price. Keith Evans and Jenk L. Palmer, accompanied by Mrs. Keith Evans and Mrs. Myra Jean John, sang solos. Mrs. John also played the prelude and postlude. Invocation was offered by Tommy Thorpe and the benediction by Jesse Hughes.

Raiford Benson offered the dedicatory prayer at the Malad City Cemetery. Military honors were paid by the American Legion, Ernest W. Jones Post $65. Flowers were carried by relatives and friends assisted by Dana Benson. Casket bearers were Mr. Thomson’s brothers, George, Robert, Silas, Melvin, Ren and Roy Thomson.

Burial was directed by Benson Funeral Service.

Mr. Thomson was born here July 28, 1917, a son of George and Rose Thomson. He married Doris Bush here November 30, 193(?) and they had lived at Boise since 1941. He was a member of the LDS Church, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and a veteran of World War II when he served in Europe for three years with the Signal Corps of the US Infantry and was awarded three battle stars.

Survivors include his widow and daughter, Cicki, both of Boise; brothers, George, Scott Bluff, NB; Silas, Phoenix, AZ; Robert, Pocatello; Melvin, Clovis, N.M.; Ren, Malad; Roy, Bountiful, UT; sister, Mrs. Sherman (Ruth) Lund, Bountiful; Mrs. Ray (Margaret) Davis, Gooding.
