Reba Roundy Henrie

REBA ROUNDY HENRIE

Reba Roundy Henrie, 86, returned to her Heavenly Father Tuesday, May 3, 2005.

Reba was born June 1, 1918, in Spanish Fork, Utah, A daughter of William L. and Jennie James Roundy, the only daughter, with five brothers. Reba graduated from Bear River High School. She was so excited when she was crowned as the queen of the Gold and Green Ball.

She met Veryl C. Henrie when she was working as a waitress at a café in Garland, and they were married in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple on June 21, 1939. They were married for 64 years.

Reba had Alzheimer’s for 14 years. She spent eight and a half years in the Long-Term Care Facility at Malad. She saw many friends come and go as she went through her long goodbye.

Her husband, Veryl, died March 21, 2005, and I am sure that he came to take her home and the joy that must have been there when they were able to talk together again.

She loved her church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and held many callings, among them Relief Society President and Stake Young Women’s President.

They were blessed with five children: Carol Archibald, Malad, Idaho; Verla Jean Checketts, Ogden, Utah; Clayton, Logan, Utah; Bill and (Cindy) Henrie, Tremonton, Utah. She has eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; infant son, Dee; her parents and five brothers; two sons-in-law, Delon Archibald and Dee Checketts; a grandson, Jason Checketts; two great-grandchildren, Jeremia and Miranda Christiansen.

Funeral Services were held on Saturday, May 7, 2005, at noon in the Malad LDS Sixth Ward Chapel, 200 W. 400 N. Burial was in the Malad City Cemetery.
