Funeral Thursday for Mrs. Hughes, 59
Funeral services for Mrs. Rachel Evans Hughes, age 59, are being held at the Malad LDS Fourth Ward Chapel Thursday, Dec. 18th, at 1 p.m. with Bishop Earl Gillies officiating.
Mrs. Hughes died Monday in a Brigham City, Utah nursing home of natural causes.
She was born July 27, 1910, a daughter of James J. and Emma Williams Evans. She was graduated from Malad High School and on October 24, 1933, she was married to Jesse Hughes in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Active in LDS church auxiliaries, she served on the Stake Relief Society Board, was a Primary officer and teacher and held numerous other positions. She was also a member of the Belletrist Club and worked as Oneida County deputy clerk and auditor for eight years.
Surviving are her husband, Malad; three sons, Trevor, Logan; Kyle, Sunset, Utah; Lloyd, Provo; two daughters, Mrs. James (Judy) Gillespie, Boise; Mrs. Dave (Raedawn) Ference, Salt Lake City; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Vaughan Evans, Boise; Jay Evans, Moreland; a sister, Mrs. W.F. (Barbara) Rohwer, Bountiful.
Friends may call at Benson funeral Home, Malad, prior to the services. Burial will be at the Malad City Cemetery directed by Benson Funeral Home.
