Phoebe Jones Condie (Birth – February 1, 1910)

Phoebe Jones Condie, 75, 1277 W. Alameda, a 55-year resident of Pocatello, died Monday (July 1, 1985) evening at Pocatello Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.

She was born Feb. 1, 1910, in Malad, to Albert D. and Margaret Fairlie Jenkins Jones. She lived her early life in Malad, where she attended schools, moving to Pocatello in 1930.

She married James F. Condie June 16, 1932, in Pocatello and the marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple June 15, 1945.

She enjoyed reading, sewing, canning, handiwork, and traveling. She was a member of the LDS Church, having served as Primary teacher. She also served as Relief Society visiting teacher for 50 years. She was a member of the Ladies Loyal Star, Union Pacific Railroad Auxiliary, and had been active in PTA, where she also served as vice president.

Survivors include her husband of Pocatello; three sons, James J. Condie, Pocatello; Robert S. Condie, Tempe, Ariz.; Richard L. Condie, Kaysville, Utah; two daughters, Mrs. Wilbur (Colleen) Gregory, Blackfoot; Mrs. Stanley (Marilyn) Henson, Pocatello; three sisters, Mrs. Stephen (Margaret) Hughes and Mrs. William (Pearl) Atkinson, both of Malad; Fairlie Hill Wood, Pocatello; 26 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. in the LDS 18th Ward chapel, 3444 Hawthorne Road, with Bishop Donald Parkin officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 until 9 p.m. at Manning Funeral Chapel. On Friday, friends may call at the 18th Ward chapel from 11 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
