Robert Burton Condie

Robert B. Condie (Birth – November 15, 1926)

DOWNEY – Robert (Bob) Burton Condie, 64, a longtime Downey resident, died Wednesday, December 12, 1990, in American Fork, Utah following a sudden heart attack.

He was born November 15, 1926 in Downey to Robert Junius and Sarah Ann Burton Condie. He grew up and was educated in Downey and attended Downey High School. He joined the U.S. Navy during World War II serving in the Seabees, where he was stationed on Guam.

He married Elizabeth Louise Colton on February 20, 1948 in Malad. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple on September 10, 1951.

He worked for Morgan Implement in Downey and was employed for a short time with Union Pacific Railroad. He began working with Pacific Fruit Express in 1955, where he stayed until his retirement in 1968.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held the office of elder. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, of Downey; two sons, R. Blair Condie, Lindon, Utah, and William Brent Condie, Ventura, California’ three daughters, Mrs. Douglas (Christine) Martone, Bremerton, Washington; Mrs. Robert (Barbra) Yardley, Panguitch, Utah, and Mrs. Jay (Diane) Pratt, Ventura, California; 17 grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Edward L. (Mary Lu) Jones, Peoria, Arizona.

Funeral services were held Saturday at noon in the Downey LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Ralph C. Riser, Jr. officiating. Burial was in the Downey Cemetery with military rites.
