PETER THOMAS, AGE 81, DIED HERE FRIDAY
Peter Thomas, age 81, died January 31, 1975 at Oneida Hospital of natural causes.
Mr. Thomas was born Feb. 3, 1893 in St. John, Idaho, a son of Thomas S. and Emma Peterson Thomas.
He married Cina Thomas Sept. 10, 1919 in Salt Lake City. She died Oct. 10, 1950. He married Mina Newhouse Smith June 5, 1969 at Pocatello.
Mr. Thomas was a farmer and a sheep grower. He served on the Oneida Wool Growers Assn. Board for 20 years, was a member of Oneida Fair Board for six years, director of Oneida County Grain Growers for 12 years, and a member of the Triple A Farm Board for 12 years. He was a veteran of World War I, member of American Legion, Ernest W. Jones Post No. 65, and of the LDS Church.
Surviving are his widow, Malad; two sons and two daughters, Dr. Khalil, Las Vegas; Garth and Mrs. Glen B. (Helen) Williams, Malad; Mrs. Robert (Katheryn) Bogk, Salt Lake; step daughters, Mrs. Odell (Eva) Burns, Bountiful, UT; Mrs. George (Nina) Tegnell, Las Vegas; Mrs. Elmer (Nadine) Peters, Tremonton; ten grandchildren; a brother and four sisters, Evan, Mrs. Joseph (Ellen Rene) Price, Provo; Mrs. D.L. (Margaret) Evans, Mrs. Leland D. (Melba) Jones, Malad; Mrs. Ralph H. (Merle) Jones, Pocatello.
Bishop Gordon Crowther officiated at funeral services Tuesday in Malad Second LDS Ward Chapel. Family prayer was offered by Lynn Elcock; invocation, Bishop Gene Edwards, and benediction, Dale Blaisdell. Speakers were Ralph H. Jones, Jr., and Lamont Jones, who read the obituary. Helen Jones, Wanda Edwards and Miriel Dredge sang, accompanied by Iris Blaisdell, who also played the prelude and postlude music.
Burial was in Malad City Cemetery with Raiford G. Benson offering the dedicatory prayer. Flowers were carried by members of Second ward Relief Society, Florence Hubbard, president.
World War I veterans served as honorary bearers and casket bearers were Jeff Thomas, Lon Williams, Larry Thomas, Joe Thomas, Edward Williams and Miles Sorensen.
Military rites and honor guard were provided by American Legion, Ernest W. Jones Post No. 65.
