PARLEY MORGAN RICHARDS

Early Pioneer Dies At Lava Today

Parley Morgan Richards, 92, early Malad Valley pioneer, died this morning (Thursday) [December 9, 1954] at Lava Hot Springs.

A son of Thomas and Charlotte Thomas Richards, he was born March 17, 1862 at Brigham City and came to Malad with his parents when he was a small boy. Mr. Richards was an early day freighter from Corinne, Utah to Butte, Montana and other early mining communities. When he was 21 years old he entered business as a barber in Malad and worked at that trade until his retirement in 1936. A member of the LDS church. Mr. Richards was married to Martha Alice Williams at Malad on August 23, 1893.

Surviving are his widow, Malad; four sons and one daughter Robert L. Richards, Ogden; Thomas E. Richards, Bremerton, Wash.; Franklin D. Richards, Spokane, Wash.; Ruby Foglesong, Grantsville, Utah; Reed R. Richards, Spokane Wash.; 18 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, two; brothers, George L. Richards and Jacob T. Richards, both of Malad.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Benson Funeral Home of Malad.
