Rodney Rex Christensen

McCammon, Idaho, Rodney Rex Christensen, 57 passed away on Sunday evening November 11, 2012
He was born May 24, 1955 to the late Marvin Christensen and Louise Sluder in Downey, Idaho. He attended area schools in Pocatello then graduated from Marsh Valley High School in 1973 and joined United States Marine Corps. Then in 1977 he served an LDS mission in San Diego California. After returning from his mission he joined the Utah Air National Guard and then later joined the United States Air Force. He received his Associates Degree in Air Traffic Control. His military service spanned for more than 25 years and he achieved numerous awards, recognitions and his private pilot’s license. His military career also took him to many foreign locations including Spain, Korea, Bosnia and then retired in Sacramento, CA in 1999. In 1992, he earned his Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Management in from Golden Gate University.

On October 7, 1997, He married Karen June Free. Their daughter Miranda was born in 1999.

After retiring from the Air Force, he then worked in the private sector as a Manager in Worker’s Compensation.
In 2010, he and his family moved to Idaho.
He was member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and held a position as ward clerk. Besides his family his great loves were flying airplanes, fishing, boating, hunting, camping motorcycling and working on the computer
He is survived by his wife Karen, daughter Miranda, mother Louise Sluder of Boise, siblings Susan (Dennis) Lasley of Pocatello, Steve (Debbie) Christensen of Arimo, Donald Christensen of Pocatello, Rhonda (Daniel) Pickens of Pocatello, Linda (Soren) Pierce of Serling, Robin (Michael) Zohner of Boise, Rance (Tiffini) Christensen of Marriott-Slaterville, UT, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by all grandparents, father Marvin, stepmother Mary Beconi, stepfather EE Sluder, and aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be held on Saturday November 17, 2012 at 12 noon in the McCammon LDS Stake Chapel. Friends may visit with the family on Sat. prior to service at the church from 10:00-11:45. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Horsley’s Marsh Valley Funeral Home.
