LOGAN – Norma Smith Perry, 89, died peacefully at her home in Logan Wednesday morning, July 6, 1994. She was born August 20, 1905 in Mendon, Utah the daughter of Robert and Margaret Ella Willie Smith. She married George Helm Perry on July 29, 1931 in the Logan LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on July 3, 1986.
Norma was raised in Buist, Idaho where she attended elementary school. She later moved to Ogden where she was a graduate of Ogden High School in 1923. Having received her teaching credentials from Idaho State College, she became a teacher and taught in Buist and Holbrook, Idaho and in Ogden. She later attended Utah State University and received her Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education in 1965 and her Master Degree in Special Education in 1969.
She was an active member of the LDS Church and has served in various positions. She served as a missionary from 1926-28 in the Texas-Louisiana Mission. She had been active as a worker in the Logan Temple for many years. She also enjoyed doing genealogy work.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to all and she will be missed very much.
She is survived by three sons, two daughters and their spouses: Margaret and Wallace Sjoblom of North Ogden; Geroge and Diona Perry of Brigham City; Merrill and Marilyn Perry of Malad, Id.; Marsha Kay Perry of Logan, Robert and Winona Perry of North Logan. She has 19 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren. She was the last of five children and was also preceded in death by a great granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, July 9, 1994 in the Logan Fourteenth Ward Chapel, 96 West 600 South, with Bishop Curtis Munford conducting. Friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Cranney Mortuary, 420 East 1800 North in Logan and at the church Saturday morning from 10:30 a.m. until time of services. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
