BLACKFOOT – Nolan Verdon Daley, 59, a Blackfoot tavern owner, died Feb. 7, 1991, at Pocatello Regional Medical Center of a sudden illness following deteriorating health.

He was born July 29, 1931, Tremonton, Utah, to Versal H. and Angie May Cox Daley. He lived Snowville, Utah, for a short time before moving to Idaho as a child. He attended schools at Weston and worked on the family farm until he began working for wages at age 12, following his father’s death.

He was wounded in action while serving with the Army in the Korean War, and was awarded the Purple Heart. Following his discharge from the military, he worked in construction for more than 30 years as a cement finisher and heavy equipment operator. He also gentled horses throughout the Snake River Valley. He was the owner and manager of Mules Tavern in Blackfoot, which he purchased in 1980.

He married Rae Lyn Prows 1953. They were divorced in September 1979. He married Beverly Patricia “Pat” Simons on Aug. 5, 1980, at Elko, Nev.

He was a member of the LDS Church. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and working with horses.

Survivors include his wife Blackfoot; his children, Ray Daley of Boise, Nolan Dwayne Daley, North Bend, Wash., Clifford Daley whose address is unknown, Hyrum Wilson (formerly Billy Jo Daley) Idaho Falls, Kenneth Ray Daley, Blackfoot, Mrs. Chuck (Cindy) Hammerick of Holly, N.Y., and Debra Rowe of Boise; a step daughter, Alice Loraine Rose of Idaho Falls; a brother and five sisters, Versal Daley of Moreland, Mrs. Chester (Iola) Arbon, Snowville, Utah, Mrs. Bud (Myrtle) Marshall of Washington, Utah, Mrs. Glenn (Donna) Spencer Syracuse, Utah, Mrs. David (Lola) Anderson of Hyrum, Utah, and Mrs. Ray (Dorothy) Mackay, Clayborn, Texas; and 13 grand children. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and six brothers.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Packham Mortuary in Blackfoot. The family will meet with friends this evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and again Saturday one hour before services at the funeral home.

Burial, with military graveside rites, will be in the Grove City Cemetery.
