OGDEN – Nettie Mae Nielsen Norris, died Sunday, July 31, 1994 in Ogden following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born May 1, 1916 in Malad, Idaho, a daughter of Catherine Pierce and James David Nielsen.

She married Wm. Garth Norris June 13, 1940 in Ogden. He died June 18, 1989.

She was a member of the Mt. Lewis 5th Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she was serving as a Relief Society Visiting Teacher, and a Visiting Teacher Coordinator.

She had worked at American Optical, Wood Motor Co. and Hill Air Force Base. She was also a volunteer at the Golden Hours Center for the past 12 years.

Mae enjoyed spending time with her family and also her hobbies of ceramics, knitting and crocheting. Her five children, 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren have many treasured keepsakes because of her handiwork.

Surviving are one daughter and four sons, Monta and Farrell Ririe of Ogden; David and Romona Norris of Idaho Falls, Idaho; John and Alanna Norris of Warren; Roy and Ilene Norris of Harrisville; Curt Evan and Becky Norris of Ogden. Also surviving is a brother, Ralph Nielsen of Ogden.

She was preceded in death by a son, James Dennis Norris and a brother Roy D. Nielsen.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., with Bishop Steven Winward of the Mt. Lewis 5th Ward, officiating.

Friends may call at the mortuary on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday 10 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park.
