Neil E. Thorpe, 65 of Niskayuna, New York passed away Thursday, May 28, 2009 at his home after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Neil, one of five children, was born August 22, 1943 in Malad City Idaho to Neil and Emma John Thorpe.
He graduated from Malad High School in 1961. After completing his college education he became a regional manager for an import company, Brown and Forum. Upon his retirement he owned and operated Wednesday’s Deli and a deli in the Northeast Industrial Park. Neil’s hobbies included extensive gardening and family history work. He was a member of the LDS church and also several garden clubs in the Niskayuma area.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, Roger John, and a sister, RaeLene (Dee) Wakley.
He is survived by two sisters, Gayle (Clark) Wakley and LaNae (Glenn-deceased, Townsend), both of Utah; his best friends, Ed Pollick, and Niskayuna, New York, and Sandra Galvin of Liverpool, New York, as well as many nieces and nephews.
LDS funeral services were held Saturday, May 30, in New York, under the direction of the Bishop, at the Bond Funeral Home.
