Merritt Colton (Birth 20 May 1898)

Merritt Colton, 58, was found dead, apparently of natural causes, Tuesday night (22 Oct 1956) at this home in Malad.

Mr. Colton was born May 20, 1898 at Malad, a son of Edward W. and Louisa Clark Colton. Reared and educated at Malad he was a member of the L.D.S. Church. Mr. Colton had lived for 30 years in California where he operated a grocery store. He has been employed at Crowther Bros. Mill while living in Malad.

Surviving are three sisters and three brothers; Mrs. Joseph (Ella) Palmer, William Colton, Roscoe Colton, Malad; Mrs. Lester (Eliza) Charlesworth, Ogden; J. Colton, Redwood City, Calif., Mrs. Hal (Delora) Powell, Sacramento, Calif.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. in the Malad First ward chapel with Bishop Howard Neal in charge. Friends may call at the Benson Funeral Home Thursday evening between seven and nine o’clock and Friday until time of services.

Internment will be in the Malad City cemetery.
