Hazel Gertrude Lundy Colton, 88, Malad, died Tuesday, December 2, (1986) in the Oneida County Nursing Home.

She was born June 30, 1898, in Des Moines, Iowa, to James Wilson and Julia Gertrude St. John Lundy.

When she was a child, the family moved frequently. She was raised mainly in California, and while there, she worked in fruit-packing plants. When the family moved to Malad, she worked with the telephone company as a switchboard operator.

She married Joseph J. Colton October 1,1917 in Tacoma, Washington. He died May 5, 1976.

She is survived by two sons, La Verne Wesley Colton, Malad; Joseph Stanley Colton, Inkom; three daughters, Mrs. Morris B. (Phyllis) Perkins, Pocatello; Mrs. Gene (Hazel Dean) Barfuss, Ogden, Utah; Mrs. Erliss (Joyce Lorraine) Draper, Fresno, California; 25 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; one great-(great) grandchild, and one brother, Raymond Henry Lundy, Henderson, Nevada. She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother, one daughter and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Malad LDS First Ward chapel with Bishop Sheldon Jensen officiating. Burial was in the Malad City Cemetery.

She was a member of the Oneida County War Mothers and the American Legion Auxiliary.
