Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the First ward chapel for Ellen Lucretia Colton, 79, who passed away Friday (31 March 1950) at her home.

Ellen Lucretia Colton was born February 12, 1871 at Malad, Idaho, the daughter of Joseph and Ellen Colton, early pioneers of Malad Valley. Aunt Nell, as she was known by most people, was the eighth child in a family of nine. Her parents left their home in England in 1855 and arrived in New York in May. From there they went to Pennsylvania where her father worked in the coal mines. They crossed the plains in 1861 and arrived in Salt Lake City the fall of that year. From Salt Lake they moved to Weber valley and in October 1866, to Malad. Aunt Nell has lived alone since the death of her mother 29 years ago. She was a member of the LDS church and a member of the First ward Relief Society.

The prayer at the home was offered by Joseph Parry; invocation, Junius Crowther; benediction, Bert Marble; dedication of the grave, J. Guy Benson. The speakers were W. H. Rutter and J. M. Isaacson.
