Victoria Williams Colton (Birth – 18 March 1902)

Malad – Victoria Williams Colton, 85, of 538 Bannock St., died Tuesday, March 15 (1988) in the Oneida County Hospital.

She was born March 18, 1902, in Malad, the daughter of Thomas Oliver and Elizabeth Ann Evans Williams. She was reared and educated in Malad, and as a young woman was the dental assistant to Dr. Richards, as well as a waitress.

She married William Colton May 4, 1927 in Malad. The marriage was later solemnized May 10, 1949 in the Logan LDS Temple. Mr. Colton died February 25, 1979.

For several winters Mr. and Mrs. Colton went to Mesa, Arizona, where they worked in the Mesa LDS Temple.

She was very active in the LDS Church, serving as primary and visiting teacher. She did excellent handiwork of all kinds including tatting, knitting, crocheting and making quilts. She also enjoyed textile painting and was an avid genealogist.

She is survived by one son, William Colton Jr., Malad; Mrs. Robert (Elizabeth) Condie, Downey; seven grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; two brothers, LeRoy Williams, Clinton, Utah; and Vern Williams, Tooele, Utah; and two sisters, Thelma Green, Pocatello, and Vera True, Oak Harbor, Washington. She was preceded in death by one son, Wesley; five brothers, three half-brothers and two half-sisters.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 18 at noon at the Malad LDS First Ward Chapel with Bishop Sheldon Jensen officiating. Burial was in the Malad City Cemetery.
