MELVIN LEROY MORGAN

SNOWVILLE – Melvin LeRoy Morgan, 82, of Snowville passed Saturday, July 15, 2000 at his home in Snowville surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on August 21, 1917 in Kemmerer, Wyoming the son of Alfred James Morgan and Maude Bowcutt. He married Edna Johnson on June 15, 1940 and their marriage was later solemnized on April 19, 1964 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Melvin was a farmer and rancher his entire life. He loved being with his family, hunting, fishing and reading Louis Lamour books.

He was a member of the Curlew LDS Ward, where he served valiantly as a high priest, a faithful home teacher, scoutmaster and 4-H leader for many years.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years Edna Johnson Morgan of Snowville; four sons – Edgar LeRoy (Viola) Morgan of Ogden, Curtis LaMar (Gloria) Morgan of Snowville, Steven Neil (Tamara) Morgan of Garland and Michael J. (Robin) Morgan of Snowville; one daughter – Susan (Bruce) Summers of Richfield – one brother – Jerry (Violet) Morgan of Tremonton; 23 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2000 at the Curlew LDS Church, 75 North 100 East Snowville; Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, at the Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home in Tremonton and Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Pearl and two half brothers Bud and John Vicars.

Interment will be in the Mantua Cemetery.
