Maude Jones Thomas, 94, of Malad, passed away early Saturday, Jan. 4, 1997, in the Oneida County Nursing Home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N. Malad.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 9 at 1 p.m. in the St. John LDS Ward Chapel, 308 W. 400 N. Friends may call at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N., Malad Wednesday, Jan. 8 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday the funeral home from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

Maude J. Thomas
Maude Irene Jones Thomas, 94, of Malad, passed away Saturday, January 4, 1997 in the Oneida County Nursing Home.
She was born March 16, 1902 in Malad in the family home on Bannock Street, a daughter of Eli Benjamin and Mary Thomas Jones. She was reared and educated in the Malad area, was a graduate of high school and later attended the Idaho Technical College in Pocatello.
On November 23, 1925 she married Thomas Franklin Thomas in Salt Lake City. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple February 17, 1965.
Maude was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served as Young Women’s president, Primary president, and Relief Society secretary, she also belonged to the St. John Native Daughters, and the Oneida County War Mothers, where she had served as president.
For the past 16 years she had resided in Malad at the Southside Apartments. She was an excellent homemaker, was an avid reader, and had constantly kept in touch with family and friends with letters, greeting cards and telephone calls.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Dean (Mary Lou) Williams of Pocatello; one son, Dale and wife, Fern Thomas, of St. John; one sister, Helen Norma Jones of Rigby; 10 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and, a son, John Jones Thomas, a great-grandson, Trevor Bowen, a sister, six brothers and a great-granddaughter’s husband.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 9, 1997 at 1 p.m. in the St. John LDS Ward Chapel, 308 W. 400 N. Malad. Friends may call at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N. Malad, on Wednesday, January 8 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Thursday at the funeral home from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Burial will be in the St. John Cemetery.
