Funeral Tuesday For Mrs. Reed

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Jane Josephson Reed, 75, who died at the Oneida hospital Friday evening [January 11, 1952], were held in the St. John Chapel, Tuesday with bishop Melvin Yearsley in charge.

Bishop Melvin Yearsley presided and gave the obituary; Espy Thomas offered the prayer at the home; Arch Harris, invocation; Weldon Jensen, benediction. The speakers were Jake Kern and Wm. H. Rutter. The musical numbers consisted of solos, Ren Dives, Stillman Harris and Helen Jones. Alicia Bingham played the prelude and postlude.

Mrs. Reed was born at Malad, August 5, 1876, a daughter of Charles and Ellen Nelson Josephson. She attended the Malad schools and lived her entire life in Malad Valley. On October 15, 1895 she was married to John T. Reed at Malad. Mr. Reed died Dec. 12, 1932.

She was a member of the LDS Church and active in Relief Society work in the St. John ward. She was also a member of the daughters of Idaho Pioneers.

She is survived by three daughters and five sons: William J. Reed, Mrs. Ivy Price, Daniel, Theodore and Sylvester Reed, all of Malad; *** Mary Ellen Price and Mrs. Carol Florke of Glendale, California and Thomas Reed of Orofino, Ida.; ** grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Annie Goodliffe, Rexburg; five brothers, Lorenzo Josephson, Caldwell, Idaho; Ephriam and Carl Josephson, Driggs, Idaho; Isaac Josephson, St. Anthony, Idaho, and Joseph Josephson, Malad.
