MARY EDWARDS PETERSEN

Services held Monday for Mary E. Petersen

Mary Edwards Petersen, 61, of Malad, died July 7th [1978] at the Oneida County Hospital of cancer.

She was born on October 30, 1916 at Malad, the daughter of Chester A. and Mary Leigh Edwards. She grew up in Downey and Malad and graduated from Malad High School.

She married Woodrow W. Peterson, June 12, 1935 at the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.

Mrs. Peterson was an active member of the LDS Church. She served as a Primary and Mutual teacher, Relief Society counselor, secretary and visiting teacher.

Survivors include her husband, Malad; a son, Mark W. Peterson and a daughter, Mrs. John C. (Lugene) Hill, both of Malad; five grandchildren, a brother and two sisters, G. Joe Edwards, McCall; Mrs. Herman (Ella) Housner, Malad and Mrs. Alfred (Ida Mae) Olson, Twin Falls.

FUNERAL SERVICE

Funeral services were held at the St. John Ward Chapel on July 10th. At the Benson Funeral Home, the family prayer was offered by Nolan T. Blaisdell and the program at the Chapel, Bishop Eugene Edwards officiating included: Donna Talbot, prelude and postlude music; Doyle Talbot, invocation; Helen Jones, vocal solo; obituary, Terry Edwards.

Speaker, Bishop Gordon Crowther; followed by remarks, Bishop Edwards and a vocal duet, Connie Budge and Lana Esplin. The services were closed with Gene Colton giving the benediction.

CONLUDING RITES

Spence Horsley gave the dedicatory prayer at concluding rites held at the St. John Cemetery. Flower arrangements were cared for by members of the St. John Relief Society, Rosalie Colton, president.

Casket bearers: Chris Toland[sic], Ted Bowen, Ren Ray Bowen, Rollie Jones, Bud Evans and Tom Palmer.

Funeral arrangements were made by the Benson Funeral Home.
