Mary Caldwell Westergard, (1918)

WESTERGARD, MARY C., September 21, 1918 – August 9, 2004

SOUTH OGDEN – Our beloved mother, Mary Caldwell Westergard, has passed and is in the hands of the Lord. Mary passed away on August 9, 2004 at Manor Care Nursing Center in South Ogden, Utah. She was born in Los Angeles, CA on September 21, 1918, the daughter of Armenak and Mary Hambarian Eshilian. She was educated and raised in the Los Angeles areas.

She married David Caldwell of Malad, ID on December 23, 1943 in Medord, OR. David died June 23, 1985. In August of 1990 she married James O. Westergard in Las Vegas, NV. He died August 10, 1999.

Mary was employed at the national Biscuit Co. and the May Co. in Los Angeles, CA. In 1961 the family moved to Ogden and she worked for the school lunch programs. Prior to coming to Utah she belonged to the Immanuel American Congregational Church of Los Angeles and was very active in the Junior Ladies Aid and Fellowship.

She was a member of the Ogden Presbyterian Church. Mary enjoyed baking/crocheting and made many beautiful gifts for those she loved. She also enjoyed playing bingo and going to Wendover. Those who know her will miss her keen wit and humor.

Survivors include two daughters and one son, Sharon Phillips of Ogden; Adele (Jerry) Fulmer of Roy; and Alan Caldwell of Ogden; seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Elsie Rouchon of Mission Viejo, CA; and one brother Deran Eshilian of Kingman, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, brother Ben Eshilian, grandson, Dennis Fulmer and daughter-in-law Diane Caldwell.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park.
