Marva J. Muir Weaver, (1928)

Marva J. Muir Weaver 1928-2010. It seems like heaven decidedly decided that it couldn’t wait another minute for our mother, the amazing, marvelous Marva J. Muir Weaver, who died Monday July 12, 2010 from an injury-related stroke (June 2nd). We think that to celebrate heaven made a rule showing Coca-Cola Classic by the gallons. It’s party time! Her residence that hundreds called “Home” is now in heaven. The line is long for all who have been waiting to share a coke, a smile, a hug, and be seen and heard (with all the warts that humanity gives us) by someone with beautiful blue caring eyes who always had time to take you in and enfold you in her love. Marva was born May 5, 1928 in Malad, Idaho to May John and Vern Barlow Muir. The family soon moved to Logan, Utah where her parents had a grocery store that was the gathering place of the neighborhood. She was the oldest of six girls and liked to be the one her dad took on father and son outings or politicking when he was state senator. In school, she had a perfect attendance record from kindergarten through Logan High School, class of ’46 (which I think she mentioned to us more than once growing up). She graduated from LDS Seminary and continued her studies at USU. She married Ross Maughan Weaver in the Salt Lake Temple in 1947. She supported Dad in every way through the years as he pursued his doctorate in audiology. Marva’s sharp wit and delightful sense of humor, along with dad’s, led to a great, fun 63 years of marriage. Marva was the life of every party and was loved by everyone who knew her. Our home was always a place for stories, neighbors, and college students. She filled her home with all sorts of fun memorabilia and was always doing wonderful things with her hands; dolls, rugs, quilts, crocheting and other handicrafts. She was active in LDS church organizations, being Relief Society President twice and a leader in youth organizations. She has been president or officer in several civic/literary clubs. She would always encourage her children to sing as they traveled in the VW van.. When they made a CD she named it “The Weaver Van-Trapped Singers”. To many, she was the biggest cheerleader born on the planet. Marva is survived by her husband, Ross, her son Gary (Colleen) of Salam, Utah and daughters Janine (Duane) Chase of Orem, Ut; Julie (Lee) Matheson of Lake Charles, LA; and Madeline/Valerie (Kelly McDermett) Muir of Bolinas, CA; 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and not to be forgotten Polly the parrot (43 years) and extended “family” members who called her mom. Preceding her in death are her parents, sister Jacqueling, and her son, Wayne. The family wishes to express its deepest gratitude for all the love and service from Oak Hills 2nd Ward, especially Callie for being her Wednesday friend while dad was at the Temple. We are grateful for Love Hospice Services and those who kept coming even after their time was over because they couldn’t get enough of her warmth and fun. We are also grateful for Response Link (unsung hero).
