Marguerite Rider Davis, 87, long-time resident of Malad, died Sunday, December 24, (1989) in Twin Falls.

She was born February 4, 1902 in Laketown, Utah to Thomas and Sarah Asserine Wahlstrom Rider. In 1913 she moved with her parents to Logan, Utah and lived in the River Heights area. She attended school there and graduated from Brigham Young College. She then began teaching in Malad.

She married Walter M. Davis June 4, 1924 in the Logan LDS Temple.

In 1948 she started teaching again in Malad, and except for 1952, instructed until her retirement in 1967. While she was teaching she graduated with a bachelor of science degree from Utah State University.

She lived on a ranch in Pleasant View until 1979, when she moved to Malad.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was involved in many community activites (sp. activities) including American War Mothers, World War I Auxilliary, (sp. Auxiliary) Garden Club, Daughter(s) of Utah Pioneers, Literary Club, Fine Arts Club and the Square Dance Club.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Ann) Thompson, Jerome; one son, W. Tom Davis, Afton, Wyoming; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Farrell Rider, Logan, Utah. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, Ralph Davis, three sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services were Thursday at noon in the Malad Fourth Ward Chapel, with Bishop Brent Evanson, officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant View Cemetery.
