MARGARET TREASURE

Margaret Pilgrim Hill Treasure, 73, St. John, died April 16, 1986 in the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City.

She was born March 6, 1913 in Smithfield, UT to John Hyrum and Violet Hadfield Pilgrim. When she was a child, the family moved to Malad where she was reared and educated. She attended school in Malad, Pleasantview and Malad High School.

She married Andrew Scott Hill, August 28, 1931 in Ogden, UT. He died September 22, 1962.

She lived many years in Malad and worked as a doctor’s assistant and for South Floral.

On October 27, 1964, she married David Treasure in Downey, where they made their home until 1970. They then returned to St. John where she had since resided.

She was a member of the LDS Church and served in the Relief Society organization as homemaking counselor where she had taught quilting, crocheting, knitting and various other handicrafts.

She enjoyed bowling, playing cards and was a member of the St. John Pinochle Club.

She is survived by her husband of Malad; one son, John Farrell Hill, Jackson, WY; one stepson, David Mark Treasure, Logan, UT; one daughter, Debbie Treasure, Logan, UT; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Rich (Elizabeth) Vaughan, McCammon; Mrs. Farrell (Bonnie) Jenkins, Malad; 18 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; two brothers, Max Pilgrim, Malad; Laurence Pilgrim, Bountiful, UT; and one sister, Mrs. Paul (Helen) Maag, Salt Lake City. She was preceded in death by one son, Andrew Clair Hill, three brothers and one sister.

Funeral services were held April 26, 1986 at the Malad LDS Stake Chapel with Bishop Jerry Bush officiating. Casket bearers were grandsons, John Hill, Dave Jenkins, Richard Vaughan, Cody Davis, Ronald Vaughan, Robert Vaughan and Shawn Treasure.

The family prayer was given by Scott Hill, grandson; prelude and postlude music was played by Iris Blaisdell.

Tom Jenkins, grandson, offered the invocation and Bishop Byron Cammack told his life sketch.

A vocal solo was sung by Mark Alder. He was accompanied by Myra Jean John. Bishop Gene Edwards then spoke.

A piano medley was performed by Jeff Treasure and Bishop Jerry Bush offered remarks. The benediction was given by Dennis Hill, grandson.

Concluding services were in the St. John Cemetery. Bill Albright offered the dedicatory prayer.

Compassionate service and care of flowers was by the St. John Relief Society and the Arcadia Club members.
