Marcus J. Goldwater

GOLDWATER, MARCUS J., October 17, 1913 – July 18, 1972

Funeral services will be conducted Friday in the Malad Fourth LDS Ward Chapel for Marcus J. Goldwater, age 58, who died in the Oneida County Hospital of natural causes.

Mr. Goldwater was born October 17, 1913 at Tooele, Utah, a son of Phillip Marcus and Hazel Kirk Goldwater. He married Mary Louise Gustaveson May 25, 1932 in Salt Lake City. She died April 9, 1938. He married Lillie Waldron May 27, 1939 at Tooele, and the marriage was solemnized Dec. 2, 1970 in the Logan LDS Temple.

An active member of the LDS Church, he was secretary of the Fourth Ward Elders and of the Fourth Quorum of Elders, and a former secretary of Samaria Ward YMMIA. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles and a past member of Malad Men’s Bowling Assn. He had been employed as a heavy construction worker.

Survivors include his widow; a son and two daughters, Phillip Donald, US Navy, Santa Clara, CA; mrs. Eugene (Lorraine) Williams, Ogden; Mrs. Kay (Carol) Nelson, Layton, UT; 18 grandchildren; one great grandchild; a half brother, Charley Vorwaller, Tooele; stepbrother, Yuba (Jack) Vorwaller, McCammon; six half sisters, Mrs. Keith (Ruby) Addy, Mrs. Clayton (Hazel) Warr; Mrs. Keith (Nina) Warr; Mrs. Lyman (Georgia) Warr, all of Tooele; Mrs. Ray (Beth) Fawson, Grantsville, UT; Mrs. Warren (Wanda) Monson, Concord, CA.

Burial at Malad City Cemetery will be directed by Benson Funeral Home. Bishop Earl Gillies will officiate at the funeral service.
