GOODEY, LEONA MARIE WILLIAMS

Leona Marie Williams Goodey, 54, Clarkston, Utah, formerly of Malad died January 22, 1983 in the Logan Regional Hospital in Logan, Utah.

She was born January 20, 1929 in Malad to John J. and Leona Jones Williams. She grew up and was educated in Malad and was a graduate of Malad High School. She married Vernal “Pete” Goodey April 23, 1947 in Malad. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on June 12, 1957.

After their marriage she attended Utah State University. Other than a short time in Brigham City, Utah, and Malad, she has lived in Clarkston, Utah.

She was active in the LDS Church and served in many positions including YMMIA president, Relief Society visiting teacher and a teacher in the Primary and Sunday School. She was also honored by receiving the Golden Gleaner Award. For many years she was involved in the 4-H program where she worked in many different divisions, particularly in homemaking. She enjoyed doing things for others and was also skilled in sewing and other kinds of handiwork.

Survivors include her husband, Clarkston, UT; a son, Alan Pete, Clarkston, UT; four daughters, Ila Marie Goodey, Salt Lake City, Ut; Mrs. Gary (Paula) Henrie, Bountiful, UT and Mrs. Edwin (Annette) Summers and Mrs. Zane (Kristine) Clark, both of Clarkston, UT; ten grandchildren; her mother, Malad; a brother, John J. Williams, Malad; five sisters, Mrs. Robert (Mary Delen) Edwards, Salt Lake City, UT; Mrs. Wynn (Ila Mae) John, Portage, UT; Mrs. Hugh (Bonnie) Johnson, Ogden, UT; Mrs. Bill (Rose Lee) Hill, Downey; and Mrs. Gerald (Kay Dean) Williams, Malad. She was preceded in death by her father, a brother and two sons.

Funeral services will be at noon Wednesday in the Clarkston LDS Ward chapel. Burial will be in the Clarkston Cemetery.
