Lyle B. Evans

EVANS, LYLE B., February 24, 1926 – May 9, 1974

Lyle B. Evans, age 48, died Sunday at Mountain Home of natural causes.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at First Congregational Church there with the Rev. Stuart Olbrich officiating. Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery with Elmore Lodge No. 30, AF & AM conducting Masonic graveside rites.

Mr. Evans was born Feb. 24, 1926 in Malad, a son of John A. and Katherine (Katie) Hill Evans. He was educated in Malad schools and entered the U.S. Army, June 30, 1944. He served in the European Theatre and received the Bronze Star. He received his discharge June 26, 1946.

On July 8, 1950 he married Rose Marie Murphy at Elko, NV. Mr. Evans worked for the telephone company at Pocatello, Boise and Buhl before going to Mountain Home in 1962 where he was employed at Mountain Home Air Force Base telephone exchange. In 1970 he was promoted to manager of Mountain Bell exchange at Mountain Home. He had completed 25 years employment with the company.

Mr. Evans was a member of the First Congregational Church, Mountain Home; Malad Lodge No. 51, AF & AM; Republican Committee of Elmore County, Lions Club, American Legion, Chamber of Commerce, Mountain Home Golf Association and Red Cross Chapter. In 1973 he served as Marshall of Air Force Appreciation Day parade in Mountain Home.

Surviving are his widow and four children, David Lyle, James Earl, Susan Marie, Karen Lee, all of Mountain Home; parents, Malad; two brothers, John Earl, Richland, Washington; Ray, Garland, UT; three sisters, Mrs. Don (Katherine) Limb, Garland; Mrs. Gail (Magaret) Boam, Downey; Mrs. Peter (Rayma) Zagarella, Silver Springs, MD.
