Lucy Pierson Evans

EVANS, LUCY PIERSON, January 11, 1909 – March 24, 1987

Lucy Pierson Evans, 78, a long time Pocatello resident, passed away march 24, 1987 at the home of her daughter, Judy Anderson in Driggs, Idaho.

She was born at Daniels, Idaho, January 11, 1909 to Ellen Areta Stevenson and Samuel Levi Pierson. On January 2, 1929 she married Floyd Stubbs Evans. They lived in Malad until July, 1929 when they moved to Pocatello. She lived in Pocatello 57 years. In July, 1986, she moved to Driggs, Idaho where she resided with her daughter until the time of her death.

She was a member of the LDS Church, having served in numerous positions including counselor in three Relief Society presidencies, Homemaking Chairman, Quit Director, Primary Teacher, Young women’s Secretary, Librarian and Visiting Teacher.

She was a member of the Blue Bell Camp, Daughter of Utah Pioneers and a charter member of the Loyal Star Auxiliary to the Brotherhood Railway Carmen of America. She enjoyed quilting, handiwork and especially family get togethers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers and five sisters. She is survived by two sons, Floyd Leon Evans, Las Vegas, NV; Ronald Evans, Fremont, CA; and one daughter, Mrs. Lanford (Judy) Anderson, Driggs, ID; eleven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; one brother, Friedman Pierson, Salt lake City, UT; four sisters, Blanche Hulse, Salt lake City, UT; Myrtle Bruce, West Valley City, UT; (?) Wright, Sandy, UT; and Leah Jenkins, Arizona.

Funeral services were conducted March 28, 1987 at the Pocatello LDS Sixteenth Ward Chapel. Interment was in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Pocatello.
