Lucile Shaffer dies at Oneida Hospital
Lucile Garn Shaffer, 75, Malad, died September 18, of cancer, in the Oneida County Hospital.
She was born May 13, 1906 in Fielding, Utah to Micah Agusta Garn and Mary Moselle Leonard Garn. She was a housewife. She married Vernon Lark Shaffer, October 14, 1931 in the Salt Lake City Temple.
She was a member of the Malad LDS Second Ward. She had served a Eastern States LDS Mission in 1928-30. She was the Relief Society president; Relief Society visiting teacher; Sunday School, Primary and MIA teacher. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She, along with her husband, supervised LDS building construction for 10 years.
Survivors include her husband of Malad; two sons and five daughters: Bob Garn Shaffer, Twin Falls; Steve L. Shaffer, Gardernville, Nev.; Mrs. Dean (Connie) Parrack, Overgaard, Ariz.; Mrs. Richard (Mary) Drake, Orem, Utah; Mrs. Thomas (Ruth) Emange, Downers Grove, Ill.; Mrs. Douglas (Ruby) Allen, Mountain Home, Idaho and Mrs. James (Dora) Wheat of Ft. St. John British Columbia, Canada.
She had thirty-four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; one brother and two sisters; Oleen Garn, Mrs. Mary Haliday, Mrs. Athene Wilcox.
Funeral service 21 Sept at Fielding. Burial at East Garland Cemetery.
