Dora Woods Shaffer, 88 dies at East Garland

Dora Woods Shaffer, age 88 of East Garland, died September 25, 1978 at East Garland.

She was born on October 11, 1989 [1889] to Jasper Thomas Woods and Elizabeth Christanna West Shaffer at Barclay, Nevada.

She married Larkin Richard Shaffer on July 2, 1906 at Panaca, Nevada. He died November 2, 1954.

She was a member of the Garland East LDS Ward. She had worked in all of the Auxiliaries of the Church, having served as a relief society visiting teacher for 60 years. She was an active member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and had worked for several years as a cook at the Oak Cafe in Tremonton.

Survivors include five sons: Vernon L., Ned C., Malad; Kenneth E., Jasper W. East Garland; Don W., Logan; five daughters; Mrs. Nephi (Vera) Westergard, Mrs. Leo (Iva) Godfrey, Garland; Mrs. Effie Wilde, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Merlin (Carmen) Gleed, Bloomington, Idaho; Mrs. Dean (JoAnn) Gunnell, Brigham City; one daughter, Lenna, preceded her mother in death; 49 grandchildren; 153 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Clifford (Edrie) Norton, Centerville; Parley (Edith) Weyland, Tooele.

Funeral Services
Funeral services will be held September 28th at 1 p.m. at the Garland East LDS Church. Friends may call at the Rogers Mortuary from 11:15 to 12:45 Thursday morning, Sept. 28th. Concluding rites will be conducted at the East Garland Cemetery.
