MALAD – Louise “Lula” Johanna Benson Peck, 83, Malad, died Saturday [Feb. 4, 1984] at Oneida County Nursing Home.
She was born March 23, 1900, in Logan, Utah, to Joseph and Louise Larson Benson.
She was educated in Logan and Arbon Valley and attended Logan High School. As a young woman, she worked in a bakery in Garland, Utah, and also worked in Magna, Utah.
She later moved to Malad where she married Don L. “Bud” Peck November 18, 1922. He died October 23, 1976. She had resided in Malad since her marriage, living for many years on the Malad Divide, where they farmed and ranched.
She was a member of the LDS Church and served as a Sunday school teacher and a visiting teacher. She enjoyed gardening and growing flowers.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Lynn (LouDonna[sic]) Day, Downey; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Edson[sic] “Pat” Benson, Salt Lake City; two sisters, Mrs. Jack (Gladys) Hooper, Resida[sic] Calif.[California]; and Mrs. Jerry (Edythe[sic]) Maughan[sic], Ridgecrest, Calif.[California].
Funeral services will be noon Wednesday at Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, where friends may call Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday prior to the services. Burial will be in Downey City Cemetery.
