Funeral Monday For Mrs. Opal Peck

Funeral services for Mrs. Opal Petersen Peck, 47, who died at her home Thursday [Jun 8, 1967] after a lingering illness, were held at the Malad Second Ward LDS Chapel Monday with Bishop G. Max King officiating.

Family prayer at the Benson Funeral Home was offered by Golden Wise.

At the chapel the speakers were President Moyle Facer, Bishop G. Max King; obituary, Patriarch A. G. Willie; invocation, Tommy Thorpe; prelude music, Lowell Hicks; postlude music, Myra Jean John; Vocal selections, Wanda Napier, Verna Allen, Gwen Sorensen, Jenkin L. Palmer, Norma Gleed, June Crowther; benediction, Peirce Sorensen; accompanist, Myra Jean John.

The concluding rites were at the Malad City Cemetery with Wells G. Willie offering the dedicatory prayer.

Flowers were carried by friends and the Malad Second Ward Relief Society.

Casket bearers were David J. Jones, Joseph G. Wise, Raymond Horsley, Jr., Don Owens, Richard Peck, Kay Mansfield, Honorary Bearers were Veldon Petersen, Francis Petersen, Sam Peck, Boyd Peck and Fred Peck.

Mrs. Peck was born Oct. 28, 1919, at Ridgedale, Idaho to Joseph F. and Hannah Spence Petersen. She married Loren L. Peck Jr., Jan. 25, 1939, at Malad. The marriage was solemnized July 17, 1958, in the Logan LDS Temple.

Mrs. Peck graduated from Malad High School. She was an active member of the LDS Church in Malad, serving as president of the MIA, Sunday School teacher, organist for the Relief Society and Primary, and as a member of the Malad Stake Singing Mothers. She was a past president of the Eagles Auxiliary in Malad and worked for many years with the Cancer Society.

Survivors include her husband of Malad; a son L. Gary Peck of Malad, now serving an LDS Mission in Texas; a daughter, Mrs. Wells (Marsha) Willie, Holbrook, Idaho; two brothers, Francis Petersen, Bancroft, and Veldon Peterson[Petersen], Ogden; six sisters, Mrs. Golden (Rita) Wise, Pocatello; Mrs. Jerry (Alice) Williams, Burley; Mrs. Raymond (Maxine) Horsley, Downey; Mrs. William (Verla) Reiske and Mrs. Alden (Colleen) Camp, both of Salt Lake City; and Mrs. David (Verna) Jones, Malad.

MALAD–Mrs. Opal Cleone Petersen Peck, 47, of Malad, died Thursday night at her home after a lingering illness.

Mrs. Peck was born Oct, 28, 1919, in Ridgedale, Idaho, a daughter of Joseph F. and Hannah Spence Petersen.

She was educated in Malad and graduated from Malad High School.

She was an active member of the LDS Church and served as an MIA superintendent, Sunday School teacher, Relief Society organist and Primary organist. She had been a volunteer worker in the Cancer Society and had served as president of the Eagles Lodge Auxiliary in Malad.

On Jan. 25, 1939, she was married to Loren L. Peck, Jr. in Malad. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.

Surviving are her husband, one son, L. Gary Peck, serving an LDS mission in Irving, Tex., one daughter, Mrs. Wells (Marsha) Willie, Holbrook, Idaho; three grandchildren, two brothers and six sisters, Francis Petersen, Bancroft, Idaho; Veldon Petersen, Ogden; Mrs. Golden (Rita) Wise, Pocatello Mrs. Jerry N. (Alice) Williams, Burley, Idaho; Mrs. Raymond (Maxine) Horsley, Downey Idaho; Mrs. William (Verla) Reiske, Mrs. Elden (Colleen) Camp, both of Salt Lake City; Mrs. David (Verna) Jones, Malad.

Funeral Services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in the Malad Second LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Max King officiating.

Friends may call at the Benson Funeral Home Sunday evening and Monday prior to services. Burial in Malad City Cemetery
