Louisa Stauffer Gilgen

GILGEN, LOUISA STAUFFER

Mrs. Louisa Stauffer Gilgen, age 90, died May 22, 1976 at her home of natural causes. She was born April 2, 1886 at Providence, UT, a daughter of Ulrich and Elizabeth Luthi Stauffer. She was married to Fred Gilgen December 18, 1907 in the Logan LDS Temple.

She was an active member of the LDS Church and served as Relief Society President in the Daniels Ward and was a visiting teacher.

In 1910 they moved to Daniels, Oneida County, Idaho where they took up a homestead and farmed for many years, and raised their family. They moved to Logan again in 1940 and then returned to live in Malad in 1966 where they have since resided.

Survivors include her husband, Malad; one son and three daughters: Lynn K. Gilgen and Mrs. John H. (Irene) Gibbs, both of Malad; Mrs. David A. (Edna) Stone, Pocatello; Mrs. William R. (Blanche) Bailey, Salt Lake City, UT; 26 grandchildren, 75 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
