Lora Butler Tovey, (1917)

TOVEY, LORA BUTLER, June 10, 1917 – January 15, 2004

Lora Butler Tovey, 86, passed away at the University of Utah hospital in Salt lake City, Utah, January 15, 2004. Lora was born June 10, 1917 in Tetonia, Idaho to Marion Wallace and Ethel Eliza Walker. She married DeVere Tovey April 4, 1940 in the Logan LDS Temple.

Lora was an expert typist and worked many years as a secretary. She loved music and was an excellent cook. They spent a lot of time going to their property in McCammon, Idaho. They enjoyed camping and traveling and she was known to be an excellent cook and a very hard worker. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings. Lora was a devoted wife and mother and was supportive to her family. She was also known as a kind, sweet and very Christ like person.

She is survived by her husband, DeVere, two daughters: Raida (Richard) Jensen, Caldwell, ID; Joyce (Brent) Terry, Idaho Falls, ID; two sisters, Cloris (Winston) Benson, Salt Lake City, UT; Myra Balls, Logan, UT; two brothers, Troy (Marion) Butler, Driggs, ID; JayDell (Hazel) Butler, Driggs, ID; a sister, Norine (Robert) Allen, Logan, UT; 11 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Gary Dee Tovey, a daughter, Lora Tovey, a sister, Bernell Butler and a sister, Zelta Butler.

Funeral services were January 19, 2004 at the Preston Third Ward Chapel. Interment was in the Malad Cemetery.
