Services Saturday For Lew Capener

Funeral services were held Saturday for Llewelluyn “Lew” Capener, 62, who died Sept. 16th at the Oneida Hospital of a cerebral hemorrhage, at the Malad Fourth Ward LDS Chapel with Bishop J. Arthur Servoss officiating.

Family prayer at the funeral home was by Reed Dowdle.

At the services at the chapel the speakers were Bishop Colen H. Sweeten, Jr., Russel Capener; obituary, (sp. obituary) Dean Capener; musical numbers, vocal duet, Marcia Waldron and Carol Waldron; vocal solo, Jenkin L. Palmer; invocation, Don Williams; benediction, Earl Mallory; organ prelude and postlude, Myra Jean John.

Concluding rites were at the Farmington, Utah Cemetery with John Batis offering the dedicatory prayer.

Services and burial were under the direction of the Benson Funeral Home.

Honorary bearers were members of the Malad Stake High Priest Quorum.
Casket bearers were Garn Capener, Vadel Swenson, Frank Devey, David Jones, Clifford Gunn, Don Williams.

Mr. Capener was born April 20, 1902 at Cardston, Alberta, Canada, to John R. and Angeline Cleveland Capener. He married Viola Gunn June 11, 1925, in the Salt Lake City Temple of the LDS Church.

He attended schools in Farmington, Utah and was an active member of the LDS Church. He was a member of the Malad Lions Club and was a retired businessman.
Survivors include his widow of Malad; three sons and two daughters, Richard L. Capener, Gene H. Capener and Mrs. John (Helen) Batis, all of Malad; Jay H. Capener, Parma, and Mrs. J. Reed (Pat) Dowdle, Boise; 22 grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Grace Stevenson, Farmington.
