Leonel C. Lewis

LEWIS, LEONEL C., October 11, 1915 – November 2, 2008

Leonel C. Lewis passed away quietly from this life on November 2, 2008 at Caresource Hospice. He was 93 years old and born in Malad City, ID on October 11, 1915 to Mary (Molly) Jones Lewis and John Lewis. He had five brothers and one sister and worked on the family farm until graduating from high school. He then attended Utah State University for two years before having to leave to work at the Salt Lake Flour Mill.

He met and married Alice Rork, June 22, 1938 and they lived in Salt Lake City until he got a job with Pet Milk Co. and was sent to Butte, Montana where they lived for ten years. Pet transferred them back to Salt Lake in 1950 where he was the assistant manager for Cloverleaf Daity. In 1957 he was made western sales manager for Pet’s frozen food division and commuted to Los Angeles for a year. He quit Pet Co. and started his own institutional food brokerage, LCL Sales, in 1959 and did that work until he retired in 1985.

He was a great fan of the University of Utah football and basketball teams attending as many games as he could right up until this October.

Leonel is survived by two children; Lenore and John C. (Linda E.), three grandsons, Peter L., Steven J. (Heidi F) and Adam W. and three great-grandchildren; Easton J., Kaylee R. and Keaton B. and two companion cats Buster and Dusty.

He was preceded in death by his wife Alice and daughter Elaine, his sister Nada and two brothers, Dean and Mario.

Graveside services will be held November 7, 2008 at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
