Ruth Martin Lewis, 22 April 1912

ROY – Ruth Martin Lewis, age 89, passed away April 14, 2002 at Chancellor Gardens Assisted Living.

She was born April 22, 1912 in Samaria, ID, the daughter of Evan Jenkins and Ann Williams Martin.

Ruth was reared in Samaria, ID and lived over 50 years in Pocatello, ID. She attended beauty school in Pocatello.

She married George E. Lewis on April 4, 1941 in Blackfoot, ID.

She was a member of the LDS Church and served as a visiting teacher and in the Relief Society. Ruth has a great love of music and was a member of the Silver Chords Singing Group. Ruth worked as a cosmetologist in Pocatello for over 50 years and did not retire until 1985. She loved music and enjoyed traveling, but her family was her greatest joy.

Surviving are one son, Daniel (Kristine) Lewis, Roy; one daughter, Mary Lee (David), Pocatello, ID; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Also surviving is one nephew, Evan (Nancy) Meyers and his family, Sugar City, ID.

Preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Dan W. Martin and LaVern Martin, and sister, Anna Martin Meyers.

Funeral services will be held April 18, 2002 at Horsley Funeral Home, Malad, ID. Interment will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
