Funeral services will be held on Friday, at 1 p.m. at the Malad stake tabernacle, for Mrs. Joseph W. Rose who died at her home in Malad Tuesday, October 15, [1940] after an illness of over a year’s duration. Services will be under the direction of Bishop Guy Servoss of the Malad Second ward.

The body will be taken to the Hyrum, Utah, cemetery for burial. Brief graveside services will be held these at 4 p.m.

Mrs. [LaVine Amelia Allen] Rose was born July 12, 1879, at Hyrum, Utah, the daughter of S. F. and Boletta Johns*n Allen. From childhood she was a devout worker in in the L. D. S. church and was married in the Logan L. D. S. temple to Joseph W. Rose, October 24, 1900. They became the parents of seven daughters, all of whom are surviving.

Mrs. Rose was an active church worker and had served in practically every organization of the church. She had served as an officer in the stake Relief Society of both the Hyrum and Malad stakes, for the past twenty years. She served as treasurer of the Hyrum relief society, also as secretary; as leader of theology, as a religion class teacher, Sunday school teacher, M. I. A. officer; secretary and treasurer of Sunday school and primary and was an ardent temple worker.

Surviving are her husband and the following daughters, Mrs. Rex Mills, Mrs. W. W. Thomas, Mrs. Dale Davis, Miss Emogene, Merl and Phyllis Rose of Malad and Mrs. James Barker of Brigham City. Brothers and sister surviving are: Heber Allen of Raymond, Alberta Canada; Wilford Rueben and Alven Allen and Mrs. Luella Wright of Hyrum, Utah; Mrs. Jennie Isrealson of North-Logan and two half brothers and sister: Alma Allen of Hyrum and Spencer Allen of Malad, Mrs. Nellie Maughn of Hyrum and Mrs. Nina Andrus of Lyman, Idaho.
