Funeral Monday For J. W. Rose

Funeral services for Joseph Walter Rose, 74, who died Saturday morning [May 27, 1950] at the Oneida hospital following a long illness, were held at 1 p.m. Monday in the Malad Second ward with Bishop Golden Willie presiding.

The prayer at the home was offered by J. O. Hartvigsen; Wesley Crowther played the prelude and postlude; Spencer Allen gave the invocation; W. H. Richards Jr., benediction. The speakers were W. W. Thomas and J. M. Isaacson. Musical numbers consisted of a vocal duet, J. Guy Gleed and L. G. Corbridge accompanied by Pauline Atkinson; vocal solo, Melvin Atkinson accompanied by Mrs. Atkinson on the piano and Mrs. Willie on the violin; duet, Mrs. Fay Hanson and Mrs. Wanda Napier accompanied by Mrs. Margaret Laws. Remarks were given by Bishop Willie.

Mr. Rose was born Dec. 7, 1875 at Hyrum, Utah, a son of Ole H. and Christina Rose. Coming to Malad from Hyrum 33 years ago, Mr. Rose was married to LaVine Amelia Allen in October, 1900, in the Logan L.D.S. Temple. He was a member of the L.D.S. church. Mr. Rose was preceded in death by his wife and daughter, Virginia Barker.

Surviving are six daughters Mrs. Lyle Mills, Mrs. LaRue Thomas, Malad; Mrs. Emogene Harenberg Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Merl Williams, Green River, Wyo.; Mrs. Phyllis Pope, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Afton Davis, Malad; one sister, Mrs. Jake Harvigsen, Logan, Utah; two brothers, Lester Rose, Hyrum, Utah; Orval Rose, Twin Falls; 20 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Burial was in the Hyrum cemetery.
