NEWBY, KEVIN BURGESS – April 16, 1981 – August 16, 2003

CHUBBUCK – Our loving husband, son, brother and uncle, Kevin Burgess Newby, Chubbuck, Idaho, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2003 at American Falls, Idaho of a drowning accident. He was enjoying a day at the reservoir with his family.

Kevin was born April 16, 1981 in Pocatello, Idaho, to Christine and Burgess D. Newby. He attended Syringa Elementary, Alameda Junior High and graduated from Highland high School in 1999. He attended Idaho State University, and was currently pursuing a career in law enforcement.

On March 17, 2001, he married his wife and sweetheart, Jessi Lee Ward in Pocatello. They ere sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple on March 15, 2003.

After graduation, Kevin worked in Island Park Builders, and as a floral delivery driver for his mom at Christine’s Floral. He was currently employed at Winco.

Kevin was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was serving as executive secretary in the elder’s quorum of the Chubbuck Seventh Ward.

Keven had a passion for fishing and hunting, spending many hours with his brothers-in-law and his best friend, Justin Holder, trying to catch the “Big One”. He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed spending time at his grandparent’s cabin in Island Park, and his in-laws farm in Arbon riding horses, snowmobiling and enjoying the peaceful serenity.

Kevin had a deep , sincere love for children and spent many hours with his nieces and nephew. He knew how to get on their level with his playful spirit, and they all loved him dearly. Kevin had a real soft spot for animals, and enjoyed caring for and training his big black lab, “Gauge.”

He is survived by his wife, Jessi, his parents, Burgess and Christine Newby of Pocatllo, a brother, Stephen Newby, Pocatello, three sisters, Michelle (Kevin) Denny, Jeanette (David) Corona, both of Pocatello and Lisa (Chris) Wehrli, St. Louis, Missouri; his grandparents Stephen and Bernice Clark, Pocatllo; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Vance and JoAnn Ward, Arbon, Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by grandparents George William and Agnes Newby.

We will all miss Kevin’s fun-loving spirit and contagious smile.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 20, 1003, at 11 a.m. at the LDS chapel on Siphon and Philbin. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Tuesday evening, August 19, 7-9 p.m. at the LDS chapel in Siphon and Philbin. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Downard-Hansen Funeral Home.
