OGDEN – Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away September 10, 200, after a stroke and suffering through a prolonged battle with heart disease.

Keith Elwood Nichols was born May 19, 1923 in Lake City, Iowa, to Elwood J. and Fern Z. Cochran Nichols.

In 1941 Keith moved with his parents to Ogden, Utah, and graduated from Ogden High School in 1941. On June 27 1942, he married Pauline Rich in Malad, Idaho.

Keith served his country honorably as a Master Sergeant in the Army Air Corp in WWII in the Pacific Theater, and in the Air force during the Korean Conflict.

He worked at Hill Air Force Base, starting in 1941 as a mail clerk, and retiring as the Deputy Division Chief over the logistics program for the F-16 in 1975. Keith was the Branch Chief of the F-4 Division and became the first Deputy Division Chief of the F-16 Aircraft Division prior to his retirement in 1975.

In his retired years, he was a manufacturer representative for Litton Guidance and Control Systems.

Keith rose to the top of virtually every organization he was a part of, and he really enjoyed the Masonic Lodge and his association therein. He was Master of Weber Lodge #6 F & AM of Utah (1992), a member of the Scottish Rite, York Rite, El Kalah Oriental Band, Royal Order of the Scotts, Master of the Royal Secret 32nd Degree, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite 32nd Degree (K.C.C.H.).

Keith was the Past President of the Utah Chapter of the Gideon Society. He was a lifelong member of the 1st Christian Church, serving as Chairman of the Board and Elder Emertus. He was also a member and Past President of the Air Force Association.

Keith was well known, appreciated, and loved by many. He helped countless numbers of people throughout his life at Hill Air Force Base in their professional lives and also in their private lives through his work with the Shriners and his church.

Keith lived a full life and touched many of us. He brought life to all of us and lived life to the fullest. He was charitable to all, especially to his church. Shiner’s Children Hospital and the Ogden Rescue Mission.

Keith is survived by his wife, Pauline; his daughter, Penny (Scott) Russell, two sons, Ronald Keith (Virginia) Nichols; Alan Scott (Teresa) Nichols; 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, September 13, 11:00 a.m. at the 1st Christian Church, 705 23rd St. Ogden. Friends and family may call one hour prior to services. Masonic graveside service immediately thereafter at Leavitt’s Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th St., Ogden, by officers of Weber Lodge #6, officiated by Worshipful Master Bruce Rhoades.
