Keith Edward Evans, 11 February 1919

We say goodbye to a wonderful husband, a good father and an exceptional grandfather who will be dearly missed.

Keith Evans passed away on December 12, 2002 at the home of his son in Kamas, UT after a valiant battle with leukemia. He was born February 11, 1919 to William Edward Evans and Leah Chivers in Malad, ID.

Keith is survived by his son, William K. (Paula) Evans; his daughter, Tamra (Robert) Leiser; a sister, Ladore Steffens; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rula Harris Evans.

After two years of college, he was drafted into the Navy and served two years as a gunner’s mate during World War II in the Pacific Theater. In the invasion of Okinawa, his ship was sunk by a kamikaze plane and he was one of 11 survivors.

He worked for the State of Idaho Dept. of Transportation for 32 years until his retirement in 1981. Keith was an enthusiastic golfer and an even better fisherman.

Funeral services will be held December 17, 2002 in the Horsley Funeral Home, Malad, ID. Burial will be in the St. John Cemetery with military rites performed by the American Legion Ernest W. Jones Post #65.
