Joshua W. Evans

EVANS, JOSHUA W., February 21, 1869 – September 30, 1939

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Reorganized LDS church for Josh W. Evans, who died Saturday, September 30 at Blackfoot where he was receiving medical treatment. Death resulted from heart and kidney ailment.

Bishop Wm. P. Jones, presided at the services at which the speakers were E.E. Richards and Spencer Allen; musical numbers included a duet, J. Guy Gleed and Lawrence Corbridge, accompanied by Mrs. Emma S. Ward; vocal solos, Mrs. Margaret E. Jones and Thomas J. Jones, Professor S.M. Powell accompanied the latter two and also played the prelude and postlude. Invocation and benediction were by Bishop Jones and the grave was dedicated by E.E. Richards. Interment was in the Malad cemetery.

Joshua w. Evans was born in Malad, February 21, 1869 the son of Henry R. Evans and Margaret Williams Evans. He was married in 1894 to Catherine Peabody and they became the parents of four children. Mr. Evans was a prosperous farmer in the Elkhorn district for a number of years before he retired and made his home in Malad City. His wife died seven years ago.

Surviving are two sons, Thomas L. Evans of Los Angeles, and Guy Evans of Long Beach; and two daughters, Mrs. Lindley and Mrs. Rachel Owens of Santa Ana, CA. Two sisters, Mrs. Henry Anderson and Mrs. Gwen Jenkins of Tendoy, ID also survive.

Out of town relatives who came for the services were: Thomas L. Evans, of Los Angeles; Mrs. Rachel Owens and son, Bill Owens of Santa Ana; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Anderson; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Anderson and Mrs. Gwen Jenkins of Tendoy, ID; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Evans of Fort Hall and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Evans of Pocatello.
