He was born in Malad, Idaho to Ernest A. Evans and Bertha Viola Jenkins Evans on November 25, 1947. He graduated from Malad High School in 1965.

Roy was of a happy and jovial personality, making light of himself and all circumstances in his life. He was altogether a very pleasant person.

Roy was a self-taught mechanic working on diesels and other mechanical motors he could get his hands on. He was a cross-country trucker, logger trucker and rural mail carrier for most of his life. He loved hunting, fishing and was able to go on his last deer hunt with his son and got his deer a week or so before his passing. He will be greatly missed.
