Senator Church pays tribute to “Cy” Price

Among those paying tribute to J. D. “Cy” Price, who died Monday was Senator Frank Church who called the Enterprise office Tuesday afternoon from his Washington office to release the following statement:

“I first met “Cy” Price when still in high school and I was participating in the American Legion’s National Oratorical Contest. Mr. Price was director at that time of the Legion’s Americanism program for the State of Idaho. He took a keen interest in my fortunes and when I won it, no one took more delight in my success. From that time on he was a friend and counselor.

“Though we were members of different parties, his friendship was never affected by partisan considerations.

“Mr. Price served Idaho well as Secretary of State, as a longtime leader in the American Legion and as a good neighbor and friend to a multitude of Idaho people.”
