Joseph D. Price Dies At Provo

Joseph D. (Joe) Price, 56, former resident of Malad, died Saturday of a heart attack while working in his shoe store at Provo.

Funeral service was conducted at the Malad Fourth LDS Ward Wednesday with Bishop Colen H. Sweeten, Jr. in charge.

Family prayer was offered by Jesse Hughes. At the chapel, Lorna Williams played prelude and postlude music and accompanied the vocal numbers which were a solo by Jenkin Jones and a duet by June Crowther and Norma Gleed. Invocation was offered by D. LeRoy Thomas and the benediction by Bishop Hubert Gleed. Speakers were Bishop Carl D. Jones, Ralph W. Harding and Bishop Sweeten who read the obituary.

Raiford Benson offered the dedicatory prayer at the Malad City Cemetery. Flowers were carried by Fourth Ward Relief Society members and casket bearers were Donald S. Jones, Larell Jones, Ralph H. Jones, Stanley Price, Evan Scott Thomas and Garth Thomas.

Burial at Malad City Cemetery was directed by Benson Funeral Home.

Mr. Price was born at Malad August 22, 1903, a son of John and Milly Richardson Price. He attended Malad schools. After living in California and Idaho he became part owner of the Price Shoe Store at Provo in 1949. He married Elle Rene Thomas[,] March 1, 1933 in Salt Lake City. He was a member of the LDS Church, a member of the Riverside Country Club and a former member of the Provo Rotary Club.

Survivors include his widow; two sons, William J., Alsaka; John, Salem, Va.; two grandchildren; four brothers and five sisters. Those living in Malad are John, Josiah and Edward Price, Mrs. Harvey Jones, Mrs. Dave Jones, Mrs. Margaret Hughes and Mrs. Milly Evans. A brother, Albert Price, lives in Montana, and a sister, Mrs. William Davis, lives at Spanish Fork, Utah.
