Joseph S. Peabody

Joseph Stephen Peabody was born in Malad, Idaho on the 25 of April 1906. He was the firstborn of Jacob and Martha Jones Peabody. He resided in Malad for the first thirty years of his life, then moved to Kilgore, Idaho with his wife, Amy Kent, daughter of Henry Osmond and Flora B. Kent, and their four children. They later moved to Ashton, Idaho where they resided for thirty-three years. He passed away the 28th day of April, 1983 in the River View Hospital in Idaho Falls, Idaho of heart failure.

He is survived by his widow of Ashton, daughter, Mrs. LaRue[sic] Hunter; St. Anthony; son, J. S. Junior Peabody, St. Anthony, Idaho; daughter, Mrs. Neva Orme[sic], Idaho Falls, Idaho; and Mrs. Martha Dayton, Driggs, Idaho. Three sisters, Mrs. Berton[sic] E. (Rachel) Williams, Mrs. Henry B. (Rosetta) Pingel[sic] and Mrs. Ned C. (Sylvia) Shaffer, all of Malad. Two brothers, Thorold Peabody, Baker, Oregon and LeRoy[sic] Peabody, Malad, Idaho.

Funeral services were held May 2, 1983 in Ashton, Idaho.

Funeral services were held in memory of Joseph Steven[sic] Peabody Monday, May 2, at 1:00 p.m. in the Ashton Stake Center. Conducting the service was Joe Foster with floral arrangements by the Ashton Second Ward Relief Society. Honorary Pallbearers were the Ashton Second Ward High Priest.

The Family prayer was offered by Patriarch Adell[sic] Cutler (brother-in-law) and the prelude and postlude music performed by Ruth Murdoch. Dee Jay Williams (nephew) offered the invocation and a musical selection “These Hands” by President Blain Hawks. Rella[sic] Peabody (daughter-in-law) told his life sketch and Bishop Wesley L. Roberts supplied a musical selection “I Hope There’ll Be Pine Trees In Heaven”. Bishop Steven L. Osborne was a speaker and the Harmonettes[sic] offered a musical selection ” I Need Thee Every Hour”. Concluding remarks were offered by Bishop Ross Wynn and the benediction was given by Bud Pingelsic and Pallbearers were his grandsons Danny Hunter, Ronald Hunter, Terry Orme[sic], Craig Orme[sic], Lane Peabody and Don C. Dayton. Interment was in the Pineview[sic] Cemetery.
