Joseph D. Morgan, 20 August 1916

Joseph D. Morgan, 79, of Malad, passed away May 11, 1996 in Malad.

He was born August 20, 1916, a son of David W. and Leah Davis Morgan. He was raised and educated in Malad, and as a young man had worked in the C.C.C. camps.

He married Velda May Howell August 7, 1940 in Logan and their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on April 16, 1965.

After his marriage he was inducted into the army and was stationed overseas. He had farmed, ranched and for 27 years worked for the Oneida County Grain Growers. He had also been employed with the Oneida Road Department.

He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He is survived by his wife, Velda of Malad; one son, David John “D.J.” and wife, Becky, of Sugarland, TX; three daughters: Shelda and husband, Emmett Kent of Hazelton, ID; Judy A. and husband, Willie Scott of Farr West, UT; Geraldine and husband, Gary Roderick of Portage, UT; 21 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; one brother, Orville and his wife, Marie Morgan; one sister, Viora Morgan.

Funeral services will be held May 16 in the Malad LDS 1st Ward Chapel. Burial was in the Malad City Cemetery.
