EVANS, JONAH EVANS, JR., December 6, 1922 – August 15, 1974

Jonah Evans, Jr., age 51, Boise and formerly of Malad, died Wednesday in Boise after a short illness.

Mr. Evans was born December 6, 1922 in Malad, a son of Jonah and Thelma Jones Evans. He married Connie Lauritzen on Novemnber 17, 1942 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She died July 11, 1957. He married Rose Maria Collison, October 14, 1973 in Elko.

Mr. Evans, a salesman, was a member of the LDS Church. A veteran of World War Ii, he was also a member of the American Legion.

Surviving are his widow of Boise; a son, Melvin Dennis Evans, Portland, Oregon; his parents, Malad, three grandchildren; four brothers and two sisters, Rex Dean Evans, Portland; Robert J. Evans, Las Vegas; Edison J. Evans, American Falls; Melvin J. Evans, Ketchum; Mrs. Kleal (Jayne) Price, Malad; Mrs. Perry (Ila Dell) Bird, Santa Maria, California.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday at noon in the Malad LDS First Ward Chapel with Bishop Myron Jones officiating.

Family prayer at the Benson Funeral Home was offered by Rex Dean Evans. At the chapel, services consisted of prelude and postlude music, Debra Sue Thomas; invocation, Lyle Hess; obituary, Sandra P. Hess; vocal duet, Leora Brown and Foster Ipsen; vocal solo, Mrs. Helen Jones,; talks, Bishop John Roderick and Bishop Howard Neal; benediction, Bradford Price. Accompanists were iris Blaisdell and Patsy Bybee.

Bishop Lowell J. Budge offered the dedicatory prayer at the malad City Cemetery and the American legion, Ernest W. Jones Post, conducted military rites.

Flowers were carried by nieces and the First Ward Relief Society, Elaine Mill, president. Casket bearers were Rex D. Evans, Robert J. Evans, Edison J. Evans, Melvin J. Evans, Floyd Evans and Kleal J. Price.

Benson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
